I came across these lovely warm blushing purple hydrangeas at the grocers a couple days ago and had to have them. There were traditional baby blue, pink, and white hydrangeas. But these ones caught my eye. I am enjoying two things. First. I am working on painting these. I am realizing that when I paint larger, I need much more paint and larger brushes. That should make sense. But sometimes one doesn't realize until after starting that one is in the habit of working on a smaller scale. So here is the first run. I will be adding more paint and layers to this including larger and more generous brush strokes of paint, and darkening glazes in shadow areas....
I have been painting cupcakes inspired by treats from my local bakery, Standard Market.
And really loving the fluffy frostings and cute decorations on top of each one.
I made pumpkin muffins today. They were delicious. I just found a recipe online and embellished it a bit. I admit the search was not as easy as it used to be. The top hits were either vegan or gluten free. I finally found one that looked good. Then I realized it had coconut oil in it. I don't mind coconut oil. I just wanted one with butter and milk, like I grew up with. I finally searched for "pumpkin muffins with butter and milk" and got a few recipes to choose from. I then added more cinnamon, more pumpkin puree, candied ginger and half whole wheat and spelt flours. I am happy with the results. ...
New bird paintings in oil paint on stretched linen are coming soon! Here are photos of a couple with the first layer down. I do several layers to give them a rich and deep effect. The Belgian linen costs five times the price of premium cotton canvas. But it's extremely archival with a beautiful weave and fine texture. I really love it and think you will too.
After the first layer dries in a few days, I will add the next layer. Stay tuned for more pictures and available paintings soon.
