Lilacs in January

I am just getting around to some pictures I took last summer and spring that I have wanted to put to paper.  Here is speed painting of lilacs in blue vase.  The lilacs bloom in May and sometimes April in Chicago.  But in Idaho they don't bloom til end of May or June.  It's really high elevation and farther north.  That's why.

Berries Galore!

There is a sale on berries this week so I stocked up on some of my favorites.  Raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries. I really can't think of a better treat to chase away the winter blues. I love to mix them with yogurt like this brand of Skyr Icelandic Provisions yogurt.  I like it because it's low in sugar, high in protein.  I also don't like fat-free so this is also not fat free.  I love all the flavors I have tried.  I especially like the vanilla with real specks of vanilla bean and plain.  Without a lot of sugar some plain yogurt is very sour.  But these are more mild.  (I am not paid to promote these.  I just...

Key West Trip

I  While it was below 0 F temps in Chicago, I was in the Florida Keys enjoying the balmy weather.  Spent a couple days on the beach and looking at art in Key West, FL. Roosters crowing are one of the fun sounds as the wild roosters are a common site. Lots of historic buildings.  Definitely a sense of being at the end of the line and an adventurous feeling.  Lots of pirate stories and colorful people.  To me, the real adventures are here and not at Disneyland.  But... maybe don't keep the kids out after dinner :D. South Beach Miami

Stayed a few days in South Beach, Miami and went to a museum that told about the saving of the historic hotels along South Beach.   A man and woman saved them by getting awareness and taking it to the government to protect the historic hotels.   I really love the neighborhood and the colorful Art Deco buildings.
