Happy Fourth of July to all my USA friends!   Spending some time with family on my parent's farm in Wisconsin.

I've been using my own sourdough starter for about six months now.  But I always love to find a new bakery that uses natural leavening and non-commercial yeast.  (Does things the old-fashioned way.   Hewn Bakery in Evanston, IL is a place I visited for the first time this past week. I ended up getting a cheddar round, a chocolate hazelnut brioche, and a pan country loaf.  (They were out of country round loaf, which is a bit crustier.)  All the breads are so amazingly delicious.  I've been eating all three.  I put half the cheddar in the freezer and the other two are on the counter.  They are light, yet substantial.  Especially the brioche loaf.  I want to toast...

Just cleaning out an SD card and found some beautiful shots from April on the Ranch on the Idaho Montana border (Idaho side).  The ranch sites on the Continental Divide. I always love how big the sky looks in the Rocky Mountains.

One of my favorite birds and common here in Northern Illinois, the northern flicker.  A woodpecker that loves wooded areas.  I recently made a commissioned flicker which inspired me to paint this one also.   The lilacs have already come and gone.  But I still have a few photos of them on my phone.  I used this one as inspiration for the painting of the flicker.
