I'm working on some spring paintings including songbirds and pastel spring blossoms. I have a few in my shop now and will soon add a link here in this blog post as soon as I curate and add a few more pieces and create a collection. It will be called "Spring Has Sprung". Hello Spring!
I really fell in love with these lilies at first sight. They were not even open yet. But I saw a hint of the speckles and was instantly drawn to them.
Same with these pussy willow branches I found at the grocers. Just had to have them with there soft pink fuzzy bunny-looking tails or buds :D
Currently painting these lovely lilacs. One of my favorite spring flowers that grows on bushes and shrubs. I love to make bouquets with them. I am currently working on an oil painting of this photo. I also recently finished a watercolor painting of lilacs here:
I often paint on cotton canvas but have a new 12 x 12 inch oil-primed linen canvas I will be using to paint these beauties. Sometimes the tulips tend to turn out on the warm-side on the oil-primed linen. The challenge for me will be to keep the cool/hot-pink color in these beauties.
I am just getting around to some pictures I took last summer and spring that I have wanted to put to paper. Here is speed painting of lilacs in blue vase. The lilacs bloom in May and sometimes April in Chicago. But in Idaho they don't bloom til end of May or June. It's really high elevation and farther north. That's why.
