I often paint on cotton canvas but have a new 12 x 12 inch oil-primed linen canvas I will be using to paint these beauties. Sometimes the tulips tend to turn out on the warm-side on the oil-primed linen. The challenge for me will be to keep the cool/hot-pink color in these beauties.
People often ask me where I get my inspiration from and also how I get inspired.
But inspiration isn't a problem. My only problem is finding time and resources to do all I feel inspired to create.
The best thing I have found is to plan out as much as I can daily, weekly, monthly, and going forward long term. I also capture thoughts and ideas as soon as inspiration hits me so I don't forget.
It just hope I have the time to do all I dream of.
I did a presentation for the Elmhurst Artist Guild and it went very well! I really enjoyed seeing everyone and talking "shop". This photo was of my painting demo. I painted a little chickadee.
We also talked about how I got started, my art profession, and my future plans. A lot of people mentioned my loose technique and had many questions both about my painting style and techniques as well as my business and career as an artist.
Thanks to Sarah Johnson and Bala for filming the presentation.
It was available on Instagram live but is not longer available.
The painting of a chickadee is available in my shop here:
Ever since I went snowboarding in Wisconsin Saturday in 5 degree F. temps, I've been suffering with a cold and fever. But today I feel on the mend. Still weak but the worst is over. Anyway, hot oatmeal seemed like a nutritious energizing option on this cold winter morning.
I just took what I had in the kitchen, some carrots, ginger, brown sugar, and steel-cut oats. I also sliced some oranges on the side and added raisins, cardamom, and milk, to the hot oatmeal.
I have to admit, it really hit the spot! I feel good now. :D
