I made a delicious onion bread I found in the King Arthur Flour Baking Book. I don't usually think of onions in a sweet bread. But this combination is like comfort food.
A rich dough with butter, sugar, milk, and sourdough starter. Then on the second rise, adding chopped onion and caraway sprinkled on top. Also baked on a bed of cornmeal sprinkles. This is one of my new favorite breads.
Today I made pizza with my homemade sourdough starter. I first made the dough. Then grated two kinds of mozzerella, whole milk and low fat. Sauteed and cooked the sauce. Then I added fresh basil and sautéed green pepper slices.
My second pizza attempt turned out a better shape (circle). But I noticed all the green peppers are scrunched in the center. At first I think they slid there while baking. But then I remembered I had just dumped them on and forgot to spread them out. Oh well. We'll just pretend I'm being artistic. :D
Chocolate is one of my favorite weaknesses. Another one is fresh fruit.
So today I got my hair trimmed. I'm trying to grow it longer again but it still needs to be trimmed every six weeks. I am pushing it out seven weeks this time in hopes it will help speed things up. But the hairdresser says cutting it often actually helps. I know it will be healthier that way. Just hurry up and grow, hair!
Ever since I went snowboarding in Wisconsin Saturday in 5 degree F. temps, I've been suffering with a cold and fever. But today I feel on the mend. Still weak but the worst is over. Anyway, hot oatmeal seemed like a nutritious energizing option on this cold winter morning.
I just took what I had in the kitchen, some carrots, ginger, brown sugar, and steel-cut oats. I also sliced some oranges on the side and added raisins, cardamom, and milk, to the hot oatmeal.
I have to admit, it really hit the spot! I feel good now. :D
