I have been experimenting with homemade breads made with a sourdough starter. This particular loaf is a wheat and spelt flour loaf. I decided to bake both loaves at once and they turned into a twin loaf almost shaped like a peanut.
Baking them in a Dutch oven gives them that crusty outer layer.
Here is breakfast with butter and honeycomb. I also love strawberry jam with it. I have also been experimenting with different rye breads. Soon I hope to sprout some grains and make different sprouted breads.
I tried a new recipe from a book called The Happy Cookbook
This recipe called for salmon on top of avocado, greek yogurt, cilantro, and lime juice pureed in a food processor. I also put a wedge of lime with it.
The green beans are mixed with halved cherry tomatoes, toasted pecans, and goat cheese with a homemade balsamic vinaigrette. A delicious meal!
I made pumpkin muffins today. They were delicious. I just found a recipe online and embellished it a bit. I admit the search was not as easy as it used to be. The top hits were either vegan or gluten free. I finally found one that looked good. Then I realized it had coconut oil in it. I don't mind coconut oil. I just wanted one with butter and milk, like I grew up with. I finally searched for "pumpkin muffins with butter and milk" and got a few recipes to choose from. I then added more cinnamon, more pumpkin puree, candied ginger and half whole wheat and spelt flours. I am happy with the results. ...
I have a lot of morning glory and naturtium vines in my vegetable garden right now.
I feel amazed each October at how crazy these vines grow from small direct-planted seeds in my Illinois garden. I cannot get them to grow at all on my ranch in Idaho. It's too high of an elevation I believe.
Anyway, I plan to paint a picture of the cupcakes next to the nasturtiums for you soon. Will post pics as soon as possible!
