I always love to visit the Art Institute of Chicago.
I've been anxiously awaiting the reopening of the Rennaissance and Armor exhibit. The new exhibit is in a beautiful space complete with cathedral ceilings and gothic arches
I overheard a tour guide speaking to a group of young people about how gritty and industrial the city is and that the Art Institute provides a place for beautiful art and collections as almost a refuge from the grittiness of the city.
It really does feel like a refuge.
Ever since I painted my Nike shoes with Angelus Paint, I've had a lot of positive feedback. Angelus even liked my video and sent me some new products to try. I will be trying them on these shoes, some old shoes, and some new projects in the near future.
I was looking through my photos for inspiration for new paintings when I stumbled across some photos I took at Lilacia Park last May.
Did you know there are hundreds of varieties of lilacs? There is a lilac festival in this park annually where they sell cuttings of different varieties. I have not been to the festival. But I do try to visit the park every spring to see the concentration of lilacs and tulips they have so nicely arranged.
Here is another variety, paler in color. I am truly inspired. I will be using these in upcoming paintings.
Yesterday I shared a video of me painting a honey crisp apple. I painted it at night and so the colors were a little dark in the video. Here is the painting in the daytime. Good enough to eat! I think I will just eat the apple instead. :D
If you missed the video, it's in yesterday's blog post.
