One of my favorite things besides buying new paints for my art is buying new colors of lipstick. Not only are there so many to choose from, but they come in different formulas, matte, shiny, opaque, transparent, gloss.
Also, I love lipstick tubes. They are sometimes works of art in and of themselves. Maybe some day I will give you a tour of my lipstick. Really, it's a pretty humble collection if I do say so myself :D
So when I first married and moved to a Ranch in Idaho on the Idaho Montana border, I had been working in finance and banking and sales. But there were no accounting, finance, or good sales jobs in this ranching town in the middle of nowhere. The internet and online shopping were getting more and more popular and stable. I saw someone on ebay selling their pet turtle's paintings. And they're selling for a good sum! I thought to myself, "If a turtle can paint, then I can too." I really fell in love with these lilies at first sight. They were not even open yet. But I saw a hint of the speckles and was instantly drawn to them.
Same with these pussy willow branches I found at the grocers. Just had to have them with there soft pink fuzzy bunny-looking tails or buds :D
I painted my shoes. My new Nike shoes with pink wings "swooshes". I used paint by Angelus which is made for painting leather. This was my very first project. I posted a video of the process here.
I will post an updated video and blog about how they are holding up, my thoughts, and what I would do differently next time.
Anyway, I had a lot of fun and especially making something unique and original that I am wearing. It's a great way to personalize my favorite brands. I will be posting more fun videos of leather items I am painting soon.
