Bathroom Remodel

Because of a broken bathtub that flooded the floor, we have need for an update to a bathroom in one of my homes.  The house is in a suburb just west of Chicago and was built midcentury early 1950's.  I believe it was built in 1952.  It still has a coal heat stove in the basement although has been retrofitted with central heat and air conditioning throughout.   And although Chicago Water and Fire were able to remove and dry the old boards and remove the tub without damaging any tile, we will have to replace it to install a new tub.   So although I love the design and handiwork of this tile job, it looks like it will...

Pink Sparkle Ice Cream Cones

I've been wanting to try this spot for awhile now.  Kimmer's Ice Cream Shop has three locations.  There is one in my town, Elmhurst.  But my son and I drove to Wheaton for dinner and stopped by the Wheaton location after.  This is my caught in the rain no makeup look.  I had been picking vegetables at my parents' farm in Wisconsin earlier in the day.   Notice the death grip on my ice cream, lol.   Loving the sparkle cones available in pink or blue sugar.  I have to admit I came down with a bit of a headache after all the sugar.  I ended up not eating most of the cone.  But the ice cream was super creamy...

The Farmer's Market

A highlight of summer is the local farmers' market.  I always love a good farmers' market.   Being in the Midwest, summer brings a bounty of fruits and vegetables as well as local meats, cheeses, handmade breads and soaps. Loving these handmade natural soaps. Jake's Meats from Michigan is where I stock up on Great Lakes wild caught fish and pork, chickens and more.
